Can An Adjustable Bed Height be Changed?

Posted on April 23, 2026

The Hi Low Feature Can Change the Overall Height

The Hi Lo feature allows an adjustable bed to change the overall height. This is because, much like a hospital bed, the whole adjustable bed will rise vertically up and down. This feature is usually on hospital-style beds, but is gaining popularity with high-end adjustable beds. Simply, move the adjustable bed up and down with the remote control features. The newer feature of the Symphony Sleep ES600 is one of the newer adjustable beds with this feature.

Changing the Overall Height with Adjustable Legs

The other way to adjust the overall height is with adjustable legs. Depending on the manufacturer, the type and height may be different than other brands. Some of the types of legs are sections, telescopes, and extensions. To get the overall height, make sure to add the overall profile of the base, plus it’s legs and add the mattress height to get the total height.

Queen vs Split Queen Adjustable Beds

Posted on April 22, 2026

One of the main questions we get is, what is the size of a queen and the split queen adjustable bed and can you use a regular queen mattress on split bases. In this guide, we will explain the main differences and why someone would prefer the split queen over the queen base.

Are are the Queen and Split Queen Sizes?

There are two different sizes of queen adjustable beds. The split queen measures 30 inches in width and 80 inches in length, which requires two bases, while the queen measures 60 inches in width and 80 inches in length. So, the split queen is the same width and length as the queen when both bases are side by side.

Why Would You Need a Split Bases?

The main reason for split bases is that they allow two separate mattresses to move independently. This allows each person to have their own controls. Also, there are times a narrow hallway cannot fit the standard queen base, so it is more convenient to get split bases to fit narrow hallways.

Split Bases Can Use a Single Mattress or Split Mattresses

With split bases, they can use a single mattress or split mattresses. This is because there is a sync cable that connects both bases’ functions together, allowing you to use one single mattress or not use the sync cable for each mattress for each base.

Split King Vs King Adjustable Beds: Pros, Cons, Cost & Setup

Posted on April 21, 2026

We often get the question: What is the difference between a split king adjustable bed and a king-size bed, and is a single king mattress compatible with split bases? In this article, we will explain in depth the differences, setup, and cost between the two sizes.

What are the Different Sizes Between the Two Sizes?

There are two sizes of King-size adjustable beds. A single king-size measures 76 inches by 80 inches, and a split king with two bases measures 38 inches by 80 inches. The main difference is that the split king can be used with split king mattresses to move independently or a king mattress by syncing both sides together, while a king size can only have a single king mattress.

What is the Cost Difference between Both King Sizes?

Typically, split king adjustable beds will cost more than the single king bases. This is because having two of everything. For example, extra motors for each side of the base, two power cords, and a power box. This is the main reason why the split king bases are more expensive than the standard king base.

How to Choose Between Split King or King Bases?

The main thing to choose from is who will sleep in bed. Many couples want split bases to have different adjustments on each side, and there are others that are ok with only having one control for the whole base. One thing to consider is whether one is ok with the line down the middle or whether one is ok with the whole base moving altogether. This is the biggest factor when choosing between the two different base sizes.

Can Any Mattress go on an Adjustable Bed?

Posted on October 15, 2025

can any mattress go on an adjustable bed

The answer is no. Not every mattress can go on an adjustable bed. Traditional innerspring mattresses, which have springs connected with wire, cannot go on an adjustable bed because the wire prevents the bed from bending when the head or foot is raised. We will explain why and which mattresses are better for adjustable beds.

Memory Foam

Memory foam allows the mattress to bend. Therefore, memory foam mattresses will be compatible with an adjustable bed.

Hybrid

The compatibility of a hybrid mattress with an adjustable bed depends on whether the coils are connected with wire or are independent. The only hybrid mattresses compatible with adjustable beds are those with independent coils, because independent coils allow the mattress to bend.

Latex

Latex is compatible with adjustable beds because the mattress can bend naturally. This is because latex is made from rubber from a rubber tree, which allows the mattress to bend easily.

Air

Air mattresses, which have air chambers and a foam top, are compatible with adjustable beds because the air chamber can bend and the foam top can bend as well.

  Summary

The only mattresses that cannot work with an adjustable bed are innerspring mattresses or hybrids whose coils or springs are connected together with a wire. All other types, such as hybrid, memory foam, air, and latex, are compatible with an adjustable bed.

Can You Use Regular Sheets on an Adjustable Bed?

Posted on October 14, 2025

Yes, you can use regular sheets on an adjustable bed, but there are some important factors to consider before buying. These include size, height, and the type of sheets. These are the most important factors when purchasing sheets for adjustable beds.

Size

The size of sheets matters because each side of a split base requires its own fitted sheet. The most common confusion is whether split bases need separate top sheets or comforters. The answer is that split bases only need one top sheet and one comforter, but the fitted sheets must be split to allow each side of the base to move independently.

Height

Height matters because mattresses come in different thicknesses. A common question is: what is the total height of the base? To determine this, you’ll need to know the height of the mattress you plan to use. This is also an important factor when buying sheets, as sheet depth varies. Choosing the correct sheet height ensures the fitted sheet stays securely on the adjustable bed. The standard mattress height ranges from ten to twelve inches.

Overview

Size and height are the most important factors when buying sheets for an adjustable bed. Be sure to know the height of your mattress and whether you’re getting a split base or a single base and mattress. Split bases require split fitted sheets but only one top sheet and one comforter. A single base with a single mattress only needs one fitted sheet, one top sheet, and one comforter.

How to Keep a Split King Adjustable Bed Together?

Posted on October 13, 2025

Many customers have questions about how to keep a split king adjustable bed together. There are a number of different ways to do this. The heavier the adjustable bed, the easier it is for the adjustable bed to stay together, and it will also depend on which adjustable bed you have. Below, we will list some ways to help keep the bases together.

Double Sided Velcro Tape

Double-sided Velcro tape has a sticky side on the bottom and Velcro on the top. The Velcro helps keep the mattresses together because it makes the cover harder to slide, which provides better stability.

Straps

Straps can be used to keep the bases together. The purpose of the straps is to secure the legs, preventing the bases from moving. This helps keep the bases from shifting or separating.

How Different Adjustable Bed Models Matter

Each adjustable bed has a different weight and way of keeping the bases together. More cost-effective bases tend to be very lightweight, which makes them move more easily. For this reason, we generally do not prefer many of the budget-friendly models. However, there are a few affordable options, such as the Kingship Comfort brand, that make excellent bases which do not slide. In general, the heavier the base, the less likely it is to move the bases. There are also different ways to keep the mattress in place on an adjustable bed, such as mattress retainer bars. Some bases do not require a mattress retainer bar, but we always recommend using one for extra stability.
